OPERATION ICE HOUSE
As renovation of the off-campus Ice House Building ended, I got ready for a grand opening celebration featuring Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. Secrecy surrounding his visit brought to mind a clandestine operation at a faraway location. My ceremonial flyby for virtual reality commemorated the event.
Standing outside the Innovation Space, I complained about the cramped facility and my project backlog. Hearing a pork barrel pitch, the Governor expressed hope that our program would create job opportunities for Virginians.
A similar situation inspired this cartoon made with Adobe Illustrator. Strong demand for my concept visualization service led to accusations I was diverting funding away from male-dominated hackerspaces on campus. In reality, everyone was welcome at the Ice House Innovation Space, especially those with ambitious prototyping projects.
